You will be picked up from your hotel or cruise ship in Alexandria. The first stop will be at pompay’s pillar, constructed in honor of the Emperor Diocletian at the end of the 4th centaury. Originally from the temple of Serapis, it was once a magnificent structure. The granite column is a main landmark of Alexandria.
You will then visit to the Catacombs of Kom El Shokafa which are the largest Roman Cemetery consisting of three levels cut in the rock all 81 feet under the ground. Then proceed to Qaitbay fortress for an outside picture, This was built on the site of the ancient pharos (lighthouse) of Alexandria which was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Finally enjoy unforgettable visit to Alexandria library (Bibliotheca Alexandrina), rated as the best edifice built on earth during the last 2 decades. Day 2: Cairo – Alexandria
Enjoy and open buffet breakfast, meet your guide and visit the Giza Plateau, view the pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Mykerinus as you hear fascinating facts and secrets about the 4,500-year-old Pharaonic tombs, the last remaining of the Ancient Wonders of the World.
Enjoy an optional short camel ride, and then view the Great Sphinx, the massive human-headed statue traditionally held to guard the pyramid of Chephren, and the Valley Temple, thought to be Chephren’s mummification complex.
Finally, learn about the ancient craft of papyrus-making and pick up souvenirs (own expense) at a papyrus workshop and gift shop before returning to Alexandria, where your trip concludes at the start point.
